Get To Know Me

Rachel Block
I am 29 years old, currently living in the Okanagan, BC, Canada. I am originally from Ontario and moved out to Western Canada about 5 years ago. I met my husband, Earnan Block, in 2022 in Alberta at Prairie Bible College. We got married in August 2023, and soon after moved from Alberta to British Columbia. Our little family is now growing, as we have just welcomed our son, Cohen, into the world.
I started writing my debut novel in May 2026, and with my excitement, interest, and personal experiences, I was able to write the first draft of the manuscript in just over a month. I am excited for readers to experience elements of my husband and I's story of how we met, and my own personal experiences from moving to Western Canada, that are embedded in my novel.

Peterborough, Ontario
I grew up in Peterborough, Ontario, my whole life. I went to Trent University, studying Canadian Studies in my undergrad, and went on to complete my Bachelor of Education in 2019.
Some of my favourite activities growing up were rock climbing, boxing, caving, and hiking. University helped to really shape who I am today, helping me to find a passion for the outdoors and adventure, travelling, and making lifelong friends.
Moving to Alberta
In August 2021, I decided to leave behind a career in teaching and pursue my love for outdoor adventure. I went to Prairie Bible College and completed the one-year program in Outdoor Leadership. The summer after finishing the program, I worked in Nordegg, Alberta, at Frontier Lodge, an outdoor adventure centre.
It was through the Outdoor Leadership program that my love for rock climbing and other adventure sports really grew. I fell in love with the mountains and felt like it was where I had belonged all along. Even though I never saw or experienced the mountains before moving out west, I always had a feeling that it was where I was going to end up. Now 5 years later, I am still living in Western Canada, and just as in love with them.
I also met my now-husband, Earnan, in Alberta at Frontier Lodge. We have been married for 3 years now!
Okanagan, BC
Now home looks a little different. Still living in Western Canada, but now in the Okanagan valley in British Columbia. My husband and I decided to move closer to some of his family in 2024, and have now lived here over 2 years. Our favourite things about the Okanagan are the beautiful lakes, paddle boarding, rock climbing, hiking, and camping.
Our little family is growing!
We have just recently welcomed our son into the world August 2026. We are thrilled to begin raising our little boy, and hopefully to instill our love of adventure and the outdoors in him as well.
